Microsoft Word .docx file format issues

Using the latest Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word, enables a number of new and useful features.

Unfortunately, it also enables items that are causing problems, especially for business users.

The new Microsoft Word .docx (default) file format ensures that NO ONE ELSE without the latest Microsoft Office version can read your Word document.

We strongly recommend, especially if you are working in a business environment where file compatibility becomes essential, to save all of your Word documents as a standard .doc file format (NOT the default .docx).

You can make this setting change when ever you get ready to perform a file save, by selecting the .doc file type from the list.

Although there are some who tought the value and benefits of using the new XML based .docx file format, there are many users experiencing problems because others do not have the very latest Word version.

If you need more details and reside in New Zealand, please call our Business Software professionals at 0800 777 771 option 2.

For more information on the differences between the two file types, click on this link.

If you find it a nuisance to have to upgrade to a new Word version in order to read people's .docx file, you may wish to download the Microsoft Compatibility Pack by clicking here.
